ESEA Artists Futures Town Hall: Collectively imagining new landscapes for East and Southeast Asian [ESEA] artists in the UK and beyond

The ESEA Artists’ Futures research project arose from artists’ intervention and whistleblowing in 2020 about the systemic failures in the visual arts, in particular the failures of the ESEA visual arts landscape. The Town Hall assembled ESEA arts workers in Sheffield to discuss and vote on 8 motions to be published in a report to the arts sector reflecting on institutional racism and alternative. I led the subgroup moderation for the motion on 'organising.'

A Breath of Fresh Air Youth Programme Curation and Workshop for Wellcome Collection

I curated an creative, open workshop series for young people that centred air pollution issues relating to climate, health and race justice, working with Dr Chloe Trainor at Wellcome Collection throughout August 2022. The events and guest workshop facilitators are Claire Ratinon, Sam Ayre, Janine Francois, Scarlett Westbrook and Love Ssega. (June 7, 2022 → August 6, 2022)

Research Report on UK Youth Air Pollution Projects for Wellcome Collection

I was commissioned to research youth-led air pollution activism in the UK to inform Wellcome Collection's public programming to the In the Air exhibition. After I completed writing this internal report, my activities were extended into events co-curation for programming a summer events centering young people around the themes of climate justice, health and air. Climate Action Summary Report Research Published for UNCOP26 with Julie's Bicycle

Towards UNCOP26, I worked for a year as a Policy Research consultant on international cultural and climate policy at Julie's Bicyle, a leading not-for-profit for a just green transition for the arts sector. I led and conducted desk-based research to combine data from my analysis of publicly available national arts policies of 25 ODA countries, and data from my interviews with leading international arts leaders and government ministers on climate intentions in their sectors where culture intersects (culture/tourism/education). I also supported survey design to gather data from arts and culture bodies with national mandates and cultural ministries, and synthesised insights from in-depth international roundtables that Julie's Bicycle ran as part of the research programme. This report was launched and presented to policymakers at UNCOP26 to consider arts and culture's role in the global, just, green transition. (March 23, 2021 → February 1, 2022)

Climate Science Research and Performance for Infintity Minus Infinity by The Otolith Group

I was invited by the Otolith Group to provide climate science research to inform part of the narrative for their film Infintity Minus Infinity (2019) and to perform with moss, green screen nails and the natural environment (after my project 'mossy soft spot'). 'Infinity minus Infinity, brings together dance, performance, music, recital and digital animation to compose a transhistorical zone in which the unpayable debts of racial capitalism cannot be separated from the ongoing crimes of capitalogenic climate catastrophe. The work enacts the durational timelines of past distress, present duress and future dread through the assembly of a chorus of transtemporal deities whose utterances, expressions, gestures and movements personify the compounded, accumulated, irreparable times and spaces of the hostile environment.'
